PhD Candidate, Graduate Center of CUNY
Saima Husaini is a doctoral candidate in physics at the CUNY Graduate and University center. She has been a part of the Laboratory of Micro and Nano Photonics at Queens College since 2004. Her research involves fabrication of photonic devices based on hybrid nanocomposites. The devices of interest are photonic circuits consisting of active ring/disk resonators integrated with passive waveguides, as well as one dimensional photonic structures embedded with metal nanoparticles. Her work also concentrates on studying the various mechanisms that determine quantum dot optical properties related to their respective host matrices and deposition techniques. In addition she has worked on several projects based on Terahertz Photonics.
